Help us reach our goal of donating 1000 masks by June 1st! Order a mask today.

Our Mission is Two Fold:

1) Donate as many quality masks as possible to those on the front lines

2) Provide meaningful work for those willing, during a time of economic crisis.

Over 1,500 masks donated (so far)

to LA County Sherriff's Department Search and Rescue Volunteers, Long Beach Fire Department, Wheeler Center Shelters, St Francis Center, Cedars Sinai Hospital, Alhambra Fire Department, Kaiser Permanente Roseville, Downtown Womens Center, Kaiser Permanente Vallejo, Huntington Hospital, Second Helpings Hunger Relief, Project Ropa Homless Aid, Asian Youth Center of San Gabriel, BAME Mental Health Outreach Program, and more

Give a mask, Get a mask

Fund one mask to be donated and get one for yourself.

Each mask is reusable and hand washable. These three-layer masks are created using 11 separate hand cut and sewn pieces, inspired by the design by Suay Shop in LA. The outside-facing layer is a durable cotton, with two interior filter layers of polyester hydro knit fabric (highly absorbent industrial shop towels). Elastic ties rather than ear loops ensure fit that does not loosen over time.

Suay Shop in LA discovered after testing dozens of fabrics, that by adding two industrial shop towels and using a design that produces a tighter-fitting mask, they could make a mask that can filter particles 2 to 3 times better than cotton alone.
A family-owned sewing shop in LA's garment district is fabricating these masks professionally. Partnering with a sew shop maximizes our output and ability to donate, while helping a small-business and its workers.

If you would like to know how else you can help or if you know of an organization in need of masks, please reach out to us at betterworldmasks@gmail.com. We are a grassroots project and need as many supporters as possible to continue our mission.

Already have a mask? You can make a donation to our efforts. Each mask costs $5.50 to produce. You can donate any amount and can direct the masks you make possible to an organization of your choosing. We will take care of production, shipping and will let the organization know you sent the masks.
